The Tabard Theatre is proud to host
international actress Daniela Lavender in the
fantastical black comedy 'A Woman Alone'.
'A Woman Alone' is the story of a housewife held
prisoner in her own home, driven to madness by her
abusive relationship with a possessive husband and the
drudgery of household chores. But can a passionate
affair with a young boy let her escape or will the
constant harassment from her wheelchair bound
brother-in-law send her overboard?
Daniela Lavender recently completed a European tour with
the British Shakespeare Company’s critically acclaimed
production of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' in which she
played Titania/Hippolyta. She has also appeared in
feature films ‘The Scientist’, 'Ali G in Da House',
'Longitude' and 'Emotional Backgammon' for which she
received the Best Acting Award at the Denver World Film
Festival.
'A Woman Alone' was written by Dario Fo and Franca Rame
(English translation by Gillian Hanna), two of Italy's
best-known performers, playwrights, and political
activists. The courage of their convictions, and their
political and social commitment have involved them in
numerous controversies with the state, the police, the
censors, television, and the Vatican. One of the leading
figures in modern farce and political drama, Dario Fo
has written over 70 plays, his works have been
translated into more than 30 languages, and he received
the 1997 Nobel Prize for Literature.
