Metal Rabbit Presents
JOHNNY GOT HIS
GUN
by Dalton Trumbo
Adapted for the stage by Bradley Rand Smith
Following a hugely successful London run at the
Southwark Playhouse, the stage adaptation of Academy
Award®-winning screenwriter Dalton Trumbo’s searing
World War One novel Johnny Got His Gun will
tour the UK in October, November and December 2014.
‘Nothing is bigger than life. Nothing.’
When the call came, idealistic Joe Bonham eagerly
volunteered for the trenches of World War One. But
as he wakes in a strange world and attempts to piece
back together the fragments of his past, he realises
he has paid a price he never expected.
A stunning portrayal of one young man’s fight for
life, the extraordinary strength of the human
spirit, and the sacrifices the military asks of
those who serve it. Nominated for four Off West End
awards, Johnny Got His Gun has astounded
audiences and critics alike.
Metal Rabbit brings the UK premiere of Dalton
Trumbo’s award-winning novel to stage in the form of
Bradley Rand Smith’s Obie-winning adaptation,
directed by Evening Standard Outstanding Newcomer
Nominee and Fringe First winner David Mercatali (Dark
Vanilla Jungle, Tender Napalm), tour directed by
Gus Miller (The Picture of John Gray) and
starring Kaffe Keating, winner of the Michael
Bryant Award 2014.
